Victoria’s Secret, MAYBELLINE latest to file NFTs-related trademark applications

Victoria’s Secret and Maybelline are following the footsteps of Nike, Adidas, Walmart, and multiple other big names, to file for NFT and metaverse-related trademarks. Both sets of applications were disclosed by trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis in a number of tweets today.

According to four trademark applications filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, Victoria’s Secret has plans to offer digital collectibles and retail store services featuring “virtual goods, namely clothing, undergarments, footwear, headwear, eyewear, bags, fashion accessories, photos, images, videos, and recorded footage for use in virtual environments and virtual fashion shows.”

Similarly, L’Oréal’s US-based subsidiary Maybelline has filed for NFT and metaverse-related applications, revealing the company’s plans to sell NFTs, digital artwork, and more. The filing also mentioned creating and hosting an online community for digital assets, non-fungible tokens, and metaverses.

Several companies have ramped up their efforts to develop their business in the burgeoning industry. Recently, fast-food chain McDonald’s filed for several applications related to metaverse-focused ‘virtual restaurants’ that feature home delivery and virtual goods.
